Our Beers Are For Drinking
The Beer. It's what it's really about. Our philosophy on beer is quite simple. We make beers how they were meant to be made. We brew beers that are true to their style. From Kolsch's and Pilsner's that follow the noble Bavarian roots of Europe, Bastard Brown from England's north, pale ales and IPA's from the new frontier that is the US, to the Black Duck - a nod to our WA lager heritage.
Our beers are made using only four ingredients; hops, malt, water and yeast. Simple. Tasty. Wholesome and true-to-style. Occasionally we bring in some of our favourite beers from our brewing friends in Australia and beyond. Keep an eye on what’s next.
If you enjoy the taste of our brews, these other South West venues have a selection straight from their taps! So make sure you grab a pint as your passing through.... The Deck in Busselton. Smalls Bar in Eaton. Caves House hotel in Yallingup. Clancy's in Dunsborough. The Common in Gnarabup. Karridale Tavern. Yarri in Dunsborough. Occy's Dunsborough. The Firestation in Busselton. Hummingbird Busselton. The Goose in Busselton.
We have a 10 hectolitre (1000 litre) mashtun/lauter tun two vessel system that is steam fired. It was designed and made by L.A. Inox in Italy. It was put together with the help of FB Propack here in Australia. The brew plant can be viewed through the windows of the deck right outside the building (known funnily enough as the Brewers Deck). Most of our beers run directly from the 1000 litre bright tanks in the brewery straight to the bar, meaning your beer is as fresh as is possible
Head brewer Andrew Dykstra and assistant brewer Ryan Ashworth are your quintessential south west men who've turned a talent for home brewing into a profession. With multiple awards to their brews and over 20 years of experience, both brewers have transitioned from home brew to big brew with the laid back SW style reflected in the taste of their beer.
Andrew 'Undies' : “I started entering exhibits at the Perth Royal Show many years ago and won a few awards, so thought - well I must be doing something right.” He said. “It was very interesting upsizing from an esky brewing 50L at a time.” Many of Undies' brew recipes have been honed over decades resulting in beers that are very drinkable, well rounded and true to the style of the beer.
Ryan, a self-proclaimed hop head, has a penchant for the big beers of the new world and brings a contemporary angle to Brewhouse Margaret River's beer stable.
The positive feedback from punters and returning drinkers is testament to the success of the boys' elevation to brewing on a bigger platform. Life's better with beer.
